About the role

We currently have a number of casual roles based in Bega, NSW with the Katungul Aboriginal Corporation Regional Health and Community Services. As a Child and Youth Worker, you will be responsible for providing high-quality support and engagement services to Aboriginal children, young people and their families in the local community. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people and contribute to the development of the community.

These roles are casual, and we currently have the following shifts available:

AM – 4-hour shift (8am – 12pm)

PM – 4-hour shift (3pm-7pm)

Weekend – 4 hour shift (8-12pm)

What you’ll be doing

• Deliver youth-focused programs and activities that promote personal development, social engagement and community connection for Aboriginal children and young people

• Provide daily support services to children, young people and families, including advocacy, referrals and liaison with other community organisations

• Organise and facilitate group activities, workshops and events that encourage participation and positive social interaction

• Build and maintain strong relationships with local schools, youth services and other stakeholders to ensure coordinated, holistic support

• Contribute to the development and implementation of new initiatives, programs and strategies to address the evolving needs of the community

• Maintain detailed case notes, data collection and reporting to track progress and outcomes

What we’re looking for

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a specialist in child and youth work.

• Diploma/Cert IV in Community Services or qualification in Early Childhood Education

• Strong understanding of the unique challenges facing Aboriginal children, young people and families, and a commitment to supporting their wellbeing

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and engage effectively with diverse groups

• Creative problem-solving skills and a flexible, adaptable approach to meeting the evolving needs of the clients

• Experience in domestic and family violence is highly desirable.
